Azhar comment in bad taste: Venkaiah Naidu

By Our Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD, JUNE 17. The national general secretary of the BJP, Mr. M. Venkaiah Naidu, has taken exception to the reference of the former cricket captain, Mohammad Azharuddin, to his minority status.

Talking to presspersons here today, Mr. Naidu said, ``For 16 long years he plays for the country and the best part of it as captain of the team. Now, all of a sudden realisation dawns on him that he belongs to a minority community. It is so painful that he is using this card now. Was he not aware that he was a member of the minority community all this while? Did anyone show any discrimination? We admired him and his play. He has fallen from the pedestal now.''
