U.S. regrets Prithvi tests
WASHINGTON, JUNE 17. The United States has criticised India for
conducting tests of its Prithvi missile, warning that it could
increase tensions in South Asia.
The State Department reaction came as U.S. diplomats resumed
security discussions with Pakistan, which had been stalled for
more than a year. ``We regret the Indian Government's decision to
proceed with this test,'' the State Department spokesman, Mr.
Richard Boucher, said on Friday. ``We have long urged countries
developing missile systems, including India and others, to
exercise restraint.''
