Dara Singh to contest polls

BARIPADA, JUNE 17. Dara Singh, main accused in the killing of Australian missionary, Graham Stuart Staines, will contest the next Assembly elections in Orissa from a constituency in either Mayurbhanj or Keonjhar district.

This was announced at a news conference here on Friday by Mr. Mukesh Jain, general secretary of the Dharmarakhyak Sri Dara Singh Bachao Samiti, a Delhi-based outfit floated to defend Dara Singh in criminal cases pending against him.

Mr. Jain said the Samiti would also work for strengthening the Dara Sena, another outfit headed by him, with the ultimate goal of launching a political party in Orissa. More than 7,000 people had become members of the Dara Sena, he claimed.
