Jayalalitha wants ties with TMC to continue
THANJAVUR, JUNE 13. The AIADMK general secretary, Ms. J.
Jayalalitha, said here on Monday that she wanted the alliance
between the AIADMK and TMC to continue.
Speaking after inaugurating the Periyar Computer College started
by the Dravidar Kazhagam at Orathanadu in Thanjavur district, Ms.
Jayalalitha said the service done by Periyar EVR to the State was
beyond description. She said Periyar supported any Government
that did good to the people.
The Dravidar Kazhagam general secretary, Mr. Veeramani, also took
the same line. He supported the AIADMK, but opposed the alliance
between the AIADMK and BJP. But this had not affected their
personal ties, she said. But certain leaders, she said, praised
him (Mr. Veeramani) when he supported them and hated him when he
opposed them.
They even went to the extent of damaging the educational
institutions run in the name of Periyar by Mr. Veeramani, she
alleged.
She said special courts would continue if the AIADMK was voted to
power but only `genuine' cases would be tried.
Mr.G.K. Moopanar, TMC president said his party would oppose any
move to put hurdles in the growth of educational institutions run
in the name of Periyar.
He inaugurated the Periyar tutorial college and career guidance
centre.
Mr. R. Nallakannu, CPI state secretary criticised the police for
denying permission initially for the meeting.
