Detained Indian peacekeepers in good shape
FREETOWN, JUNE 13. An Indian army doctor has visited the 21
Indian UN peacekeepers, detained by RUF rebels at Pendembu in
southeast Sierra Leone, and declared them in good shape, the UN
said today.
``The soldiers are all in good health, and have been resupplied
with food,'' according to a UN spokeswoman.
The UN has rejected all conditions on the release of its men and
demanded the lifting of all restrictions on movement.
On Monday, three members of a high-level Indian team negotiating
the release of the 21 Indian peacekeepers left Sierra Leone for
New York for talks with UN representatives.
