Obasanjo talks to Vajpayee over phone

NEW DELHI, JUNE 13. The Nigerian President, Mr. O. Obasanjo,
telephoned the Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, and
conveyed his commitment to get the 21 Indian soldiers, who have
been taken hostage in Sierra Leone, released.
Meanwhile in Sierra Leone, the former Liberian Foreign Minister.
Ms. D. Muslenge Cooper, met the Joint Secretary in the United
Nations division, Mr. Dinkar Srivastava, who has been camping in
that country.
According to the Foreign Office spokesman, direct contacts have
been established with the Indian soldiers confined in Pendembu.
