NHRC asks U.P. Govt. to form rights panel
VARANASI, JUNE 11. The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)
Chairman, Justice J. S. Verma, today expressed concern over delay
in the constitution of human rights commission in Uttar Pradesh
despite a High Court verdict on it.
The U.P. Government should constitute a State human rights
commission soon, he said here.
Mr. Verma said that the constitution of the commission in the
State would help in reducing the NHRC workload.
Uttar Pradesh tops the list of human rights violation with 50 per
cent of complaints being reported from that State alone, he said.
