New political front in Haryana
By Rajesh Ahuja
CHANDIGARH, MAY 30. The Rashtriya Lok Dal of Mr. Ajit Singh and
the Republican Party of India have joined hands in Haryana not
only to expose the alleged failures of the Chautala regime but
also to launch a jihad against the BJP and its allies.
Announcing the foray of the two parties in Haryana under the name
of `Haryana Nirman Morcha' here this afternoon, Mr. Ajit Singh
and Mr. Prakash Rao Ambedkar asserted that all secular-minded
forces were welcome to rally behind the Morcha. However Mr.
Singh, whose party has dissociated itself from the Congress in
Uttar Pradesh, was evasive on whether the Congress would be
approached to participate in the Morcha.
And the irrepressible lone RPI legislator in the Haryana
Assembly, Mr. Karan Singh Dalal, has been appointed convener of
the new outfit. The younger brother of Mr. Chautala, Mr. Pratap
Singh, is also part and parcel of the `Morcha'.
According to Mr. Ajit Singh and Mr. Ambedkar, similar Morchas
would be set up in Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan and the ultimate
aim is to have a national presence.
