By Our Staff Reporter
BANGALORE, MAY 30. K.G.Nagar Police on Tuesday arrested three
persons who allegedly stabbed a rowdy-sheeter and chopped off his
hand on Monday afternoon.
Police said Manjunath, alias Manja (25), was attacked by a three-
member gang, led by Thimmaraju, alias Thimma (23), brother of
Suresh, alias Suri, who was murdered in 1997.
The K.G.Nagar police team nabbed Thimmaraju, B. Ravi (20), a
resident of Dobhighat in K.G.Nagar and S.Ramesh (20) of
Lakshmipura in K.G.Nagar.
Thimmaraju reportedly told the police that Manjunath, who was an
accused in Suresh's murder, used to threaten him.
As threats from Manjunath increased, Thimmaraju, who wanted to
avenge his brother's murder, planned to kill him. He and his
friends attacked Manjunath with sickles and other sharp weapons
at Appurao Circle, behind Uma cinema in Chamarajpet on Monday,
police said.
Abductors nabbed: Three of a six-member gang of kidnappers which
had abducted a factory employee, were arrested by the City police
on Sunday.
According to police, Mr. Arjun Pillai, an employee of HMT,
Bangalore, was kidnapped on May 8 allegedly by his colleague,
Gopal, Venkatesh, alias Machu Venkatesh, Mani Subramanyam (23),
Kinkar (35), Seena, alias Srinivasa and Mallesh.
The kidnappers reportedly took Mr. Pillai in a room in Gopal's
house and tortured him. The six had robbed Mr. Pillai of a gold
chain, a gold ring, a wrist-watch and made him sign on a blank
bond paper.
After demanding Rs. 10,000 in cash from Mr. Pillai's friend, the
kidnappers released him on Bridge Road near HMT. The car in which
Mr. Pillai was taken and the weapons used to torture him have
been recovered by the police.
While Mani and Kinker were arrested on May 22, Srinivas was held
on May 27. The bail applications of Venkatesh and Gopal have been
rejected by a local court. A search is on to nab the other
accused.
