CM pays surprise visit to offices, many suspended

BANGALORE, MAY 20. Fiftytwo Government employees, including a
Joint Director in the Department of the Social Welfare and a
Deputy Commissioner and an Assistant Commissioner of Commercial
Taxes were found absent when the Chief Minister, Mr. S. M.
Krishna, paid surprise visit to their offices on Saturday.
The Chief Minister instructed the heads of departments to
initiate disciplinary action against the unauthorised absentees
and suspend them from service.
The Chief Minister, who left his official residence, Anugraha, at
10.25 a.m. visited the Directorate of Sericulture, the
Directorate of social Welfare, Women and Children Welfare
Department, the Directorate of Printing, Publication and
Stationery and the Department of Commercial Taxes and checked
about the presence of Government employees in their offices and
observation of punctuality by them.
It was found that 28 employees of the Commercial Taxes
Department, six employees of the Women and Child Welfare
Department, eight employees of the Directorate of Sericulture and
nine employees of the Department of Social Welfare were absent
without applying for leave or obtaining the consent of their
heads of departments.
Mr. Krishna instructed the Deputy Secretary (Grievances), DPAR,
to examine the records of the absentees and initiate disciplinary
action against them.
Following the instructions of the Chief Minister, the Sericulture
Department has suspended eight employees who were found absent
when Mr. Krishna visited the directorate.
