Security beefed up in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, MAY 20. Security was further beefed up in and around vital installations in Srinagar today after militants made an abortive bid to target the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly here on Friday. The additional measures were taken in view of the designs of militants from across the border, who were making a desperate bid to give a new lease of life to the militancy in the state, official sources said.

Meanwhile, the shoulder-held disposable rocket launcher used in yesterday's attack on the Assembly building was found to be of Pakistani origin, the sources said.
