Randhawa in joint 11th spot

SHANGHAI, MAY 18. Jyoti Randhawa shot an impressive three-under 69 to share the 11th spot with four others in the opening round of the Volvo China Open golf tournament at the Shanghai Silport Golf Club course here on Thursday.

Randhawa was four strokes behind the leading duo of American Christian Pena and Felix Casas of Philippines.

Last week's Macau Open winner Simon Dyson carded a 66 to share third place with South African Craig Kamps.

Apart from Randhawa, Arjun Atwal was the only other Indian to manage a respectable standing. Calcutta-based Atwal carded a 71 to gain the jointh 27th spot.

Amit Dube and Amandeep Johl were at the 53rd spot with a 73, while, a stroke behind the pair were Harmeet Kahlon and Kanwar Sekhon, at the 71st spot.

Gaurav Ghei, who finished fifth in the Macau Open, struggled to sustain the fine run as he concluded at the 89th spot with a 75.

Amritinder Singh shot a 76 for the jointh 106th spot. Digvijay Singh (77) and Vivek Bhandari (78) were languishing at 116th and 125th place.
