Jet Airways plans package tour to A.P. film city

By Our Special Correspondent

CHENNAI, MAY 18. The Jet Airways, will be exploring the possibility of offering a ``package tour'' in association with the travel trade to promote a day return tour of ``Ramoji Film City'' in Hyderabad.

The proposal has come about with the Mumbai-based private airline's induction of its fifth modern 62-seater Turbo- prop ATR-72-500 aircraft and deploying it as a daily return flight between Chennai and Hyderabad from May 10.

Briefing visiting presspersons from Chennai in Hyderabad on Wednesday, Mr.A.G. Gopalan, Area Manager of the airline, explained that the quick daily link between Chennai and Hyderabad also linked Visakapatnam. ``The airline will also shortly introduce a daily connection between the temple town of Tirupati and Hyderabad as soon as the runway carpeting work at Hyderabad airport is completed'', Mr.Gopalan said adding that with the addition of these flights, the airline would offer approximately 24,000 seats daily on its network and provide seven new ATR-72- 500 links in its new summer schedule.

The airline, he said would be serving 39 destinations including industrial towns and important tourist destinations with over 195 flights daily. While 31 stations would be linked by the new generation Boeing-737 aircraft, seven stations would be linked by the twin-engined Turbo-prop ATR-72-500 aircraft.

The airline, Mr.Gopalan pointed out, was the first private airline to fly ATR-72-500 over the Indian skies as these pressurised aircraft offered significantly reduced cabin noise and vibration.
