Petro products price may be reviewed

By Our Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI, MAY 18. The Minister of State for Petroleum, Mr. E. Ponnuswamy, hinted here today that the prices of petroleum products might be reviewed depending on the outcome of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) meeting in June.

In an informal chat with reporters here, Mr. Ponnuswamy said the Petroleum Ministry was closely watching the situation and if the prices come down after the OPEC meeting the Government would review the situation.

``The OPEC countries have already increased the production and have promised to review the situation. Any price revision for the petroleum products would be taken only after the outcome of the OPEC meeting,'' he said.

On the upcoming projects in Tamil Nadu, the Minister said the 14 lakh LPG waiting lists would be wiped out by end of this year. The oil companies would send letters to the people on the waiting list in June so as to make available the gas connections in three months.
