Latheef backs Govt. stand
By Our Staff Reporter
TIRUNELVELI, MAY 13. The all India general secretary and the
State unit president of the Indian National League (INL) Mr. M.
Abdul Latheef, MLA, expressed his total support to the foreign
policy of the country with respect to Sri Lankan crisis and
called upon the political parties in the State to exercise a very
high sense of restraint and responsibility while expressing their
views on this issue.
Speaking to presspersons here today, Mr. Latheef said, accepting
the decision of the Central Government on this issue will alone
be in the national interest. He also supported the way in which
the Chief Minister, Mr. M. Karunanidhi had reconciled himself to
the views expressed by the Prime Minister.
``The problems confronting the Tamils in Sri Lanka are being
discussed for very long, but at the same time we should not
forget that it is the internal affair of a neighbouring country.
Our stand with reference to the Island Tamils should not be a
point for justification of the illegal acts and intransigence
perpetrated by some vested interests in the northern part of our
country''.
