Israel rejects Lebanese demand
JERUSALEM, MAY 13. The Israeli Foreign Minister, Mr. David Levy,
rejected a Lebanese demand that Israel also hand over land it
captured in the 1967 war when it withdraws from southern Lebanese
territory held since 1978, Israeli public radio reported today.
It quoted Mr. Levy as saying he was surprised by the Lebanese
demand, adding that Beirut had submitted no maps or documents
proving its right to the so-called farms of Shebaa area on mount
Hermon.
``This question may be settled at the appropriate time with Syria
and Lebanon in the framework of the peace negotiations,'' he
added.
