'Short' cut to comfort

SUMMER Equations. Check them out. Hotter climate, cooler fad. More sun, less wear. Off-season, and clothes, discounted. It's the whole, that's become short. In short, we're talking shorts.

Logical. Topical. And Contemporary. What's more, global. The body language the world speaks. Especially, when mercury takes a hike. In Chennai, less is in. For more, ironically. Shorts aren't cheap any more. Price-wise. Persona wise.

Flashback to Chennai. Before the arrival of Mr. Brand. Bermudas ruled. Not just at home. Out in the city, as well. But wait, one major difference. It was in the city that was.

Changeth the place, changeth the race. Cometh the brand, cometh the band. A whole lot willing to pay. Anything for a label. To be part of the parcel. Of like-minded people. For shorts ooze attitude. They are hot, yet cool. And just right for the hangouts. They go well with coffee. Or pizza. Be it the walks on the beach. Or hopping malls, shopping. So what's new, this summer?

Convertibles. The detachable cargos. Wear the whole thing in the morning. And as it gets hotter, make the trouser shorter. Make them `three-fourth' shorts. If the heat gets worse, rip it further short. That's Levis' Detachable Cargos for you. With a four digit price tag. Nothing short about it.

MTV's launching its range soon too. Branded shorts cost half a thousand. Not exactly half the price. Trousers cost just a little more. For girls, there are Levi Strauss `skorts'. That's a skirt- and-short in one. Just the play of buttons, and one becomes the other. Convertibles, the future of fashion, many say. No worry for short budget shoppers. Check out the nearest export garment store.

Those on a pyjama-string budget, no worry either. There are the good old Bermudas. They sell even on the sidewalk. Back to basics, folks.
