Seven more Hurriyat leaders released
NEW DELHI, MAY 12. Seven Hurriyat conference leaders, including
senior leader of the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Javed
Ahmed Mir, were today released from the Jodhpur jail following
the Centre's initiative to usher in peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
Besides Mir, other leaders released from the jail are G M Gulzar,
M A Bhat, Mohammed Maqbool Sofi, Azad Ahmed, Abdul Rashid and
Khazer Mohammed Ganai.
After the release, Mir said the Centre should enter into
unconditional, fair and open dialogue with Kashmiris.
All the leaders were arrested in August-September last under the
Public Safety Act. Only two more Hurriyat conference leaders
remain to be released.
