National Housing Bank Bill passed
NEW DELHI, MAY 12. Parliament today passed the National Housing
Bank (amendment) Bill increasing its authorised capital to Rs.
350 crores with an enabling provision to further raise it to Rs.
2,000 crores. The Bill also provides for offering shareholding to
financial institutions apart from the Reserve Bank of India.
Facilities for MPs
A Bill seeking to enhance certain facilities to MPswas introduced
in the Lok Sabha. The Bill seeks to allow the spouse of an MP to
travel by rail in AC first class or by air from the usual place
of residence of the member to Delhi eight times in a year.
Ban on conversions
A private members' Bill seeking ban on religious conversions was
introduced in the Rajya Sabha along with three other Bills on
compulsory vocational education, education for girl child and for
establishment of a commission to oversee administration in
States.
