India for peace, says Advani
By Our Special Correspondent
AHGAM (South Kashmir) MAY 7. The Union Home Minister, Mr. L. K.
Advani, today reiterated that India was always for peace and
Pakistan was exposed after the Chatti Singhpora massacre.
Dedicating an Army-run school at Ahgam village today, he said
that before the Prime Minister, Mr. A. B. Vajpayee's Lahore yatra
and the defeat of Pakistan at Kargil, many countries had
supported that country on Kashmir.
``But now Pakistan has been isolated diplomatically and the world
community has realised that India's stand on Kashmir was right,''
he added.
During Mr. Clinton's visit to the sub-continent, Pakistan wanted
to the Kashmir issue after the massacre. But it proved counter
productive for them and the Pak-sponsored cross border terrorism
was exposed.
Lauding the Army in guarding the borders, Mr. Advani said the
Army had set an example by adopting Ahgam as a model village in
which the Sadhbavna Middle School had been constructed.
The Chief Minister, Dr. Farooq Abdullah, said Pakistan would
never succeed in wresting Kashmir. ``Pakistan cannot occupy
Kashmir and will taste defeat like the one in Kargil,'' he said.
Earlier the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 15 Corps, Lt. Gen.
Krishan Pal, outlined the objectives of Sadhbhavna Project which
was taken by the Victor Force soon after the village was
destroyed. About Rs. one crore was spent for constructing school,
community development centre, canning centre and vocational
centre and the children's park. The Chief of Army Staff, Gen. V.
P. Malik, and his wife, Dr. Ranjana Malik, the BJP general
secretary, Mr. Narendra Modi, and the State DGP, Mr. Gurbachan
Jagat were present.
