Kenya beats Baroda by seven wickets
BARODA, MAY 2. Kenya's Brijal Patel captured five wickets for 40
runs to help the visitor defeat Baroda by seven wickets in the
one-day cricket match here on Tuesday.
After sending in Baroda to bat first, Kenya bowled out the host
for 176 in 45.5 overs and then reached 177 for the loss of three
wickets in 46.5 overs.
The Kenyans got off to a sound start with Ravindu Shah and K.
Otino putting on 37 for the first wicket before Shah was caught
by M.H. Jadav off Y. Wakaskar for 25.
Otino then assured the visitor of victory by putting on 80 runs
for the second wicket with Hitesh Modi. The duo departed within
two runs of each other and the Africans slipped to 119 for three
before B. Patel (31) and M. Odumbe (24) played unbeaten knocks to
guide them home.
Earlier, D. Thorat (52) and Jacob Martin (38) put on Baroda's
highest partnership of 57 for the third wicket as the host lost
wickets at regular intervals to be bowled out for 176.
Brijal Patel, who removed Thorat with a return catch, polished
off the Baroda middle order to give his team an achievable
target. Tonu Suji claimed two wickets for 12 runs. Four of the
Baroda batsmen failed to reach double figures
