HC notice again to Jagir Kaur

CHANDIGARH, APRIL 28. The Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued yet another notice to the Shiromani Gurudwara Prabhandak Committee (SGPC) president, Bibi Jagir Kaur, the State of Punjab and SSP (Kapurthala) to show cause as to why the case of the mysterious death of her daughter, Harpreet Kaur, should not be entrusted to the CBI for investigation, ``when higher- ups in the State, holding power, are said to be involved in suppressing the truth.''

The court, however, did not issue notice to the Chief Minister, Mr. Parkash Singh Badal, who was also made a respondent in the petition filed by Mr. Kamaljit Singh, who claims to have married Harpreet and fathered her still-born child.

Faced with the present situation, the court cannot ignore all facts and circumstances, Mr. Justice A.S. Garg observed.

The judge also asked counsel to place on record the video film of marriage/association of the petitioner with Harpreet Kaur.
