Constitution review 'unconstitutional'
LUCKNOW, APRIL 20. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today termed
review of the Constitution undertaken by the NDA government as
`unconstitutional' and said there was no provision for it in the
statute. The constitutional review committee set up by the
government was `unconstitutional' as Parliament's consent had not
been taken for the purpose, BSP vice-president Mayawati said
while leading a dharna of party workers at the collectorate.
``Although there is a provision for amendment in the Constitution
there is no provision for its review. Therefore, the exercise
undertaken by the BJP-led NDA government is unconstitutional'',
she said.
The BSP organised State-wide dharnas at all district
headquarters.
