Hassan ridicules CPI(M) explanation
By Our Special Correspondent
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, APRIL 20. The KPCC(I) general secretary, Mr.
M. M. Hassan, has ridiculed the CPI(M) for the explanation given
by the party for the appearance of a column on caste in the
membership renewal forms distributed by it.
In a statement here today, he pointed out that the explanation
was that it was included by mistake in the forms distributed in
Ernakulam district, that it would be probed and that action would
be taken against those responsible for it. It showed that the
party leadership was going to resort to escapism by evading its
responsibility and making some persons scape goats. He described
as deliberate the silence being maintained by the party on the
distribution of the same forms in Alappuzha and Thrissur
districts.
The Congress(I) leader said the people who were aware of the
style of functioning of the CPI(M) knew that nobody could include
a column on caste without the party's decision. He wondered
whether it was part of a move to end its struggle against caste
and religion and exploit those feelings for the growth of the
party.
