TUs plan stir to highlight PSU staff demands
By Our Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI, APRIL 20. Three Central trade unions are planning to
hold protest demonstrations on April 25 against the delay in
settling wage-related demands of public sector employees. They
accused the Government of going slow in deciding the periodicity
of wage settlement for public sector workers who ``were becoming
restive over the delay''.
In a statement on Wednesday, the three unions said port and dock
workers, in particular, had reasons to feel aggrieved as they had
been assured that a decision would be taken in March but nothing
had been heard so far from the Government. No indication was
given by the Prime Minister while inaugurating the Indian Labour
Conference on April 14.
The trade unions which have planned to protest are the All-India
Trade Union Congress, the Centre for Indian Trade Unions and the
Hind Mazdoor Sabha.
