40 private members' bills introduced in LS

NEW DELHI, APRIL 20. Bills seeking to prohibit cow slaughter and to provide voting right to Indians living abroad were among 40 private members' legislations introduced in the Lok Sabha today.

Mr. U.V. Krishnam Raju (BJP) introduced the bill for prohibiting slaughter of cow and its progeny, saying it would help in achieving a major goal of the Directive Principles of State Policies of the Constitution.

Mr. E. Ahamed (Muslim League) introduced a bill to provide Indian citizens living abroad with the right to vote in elections to the Lok Sabha and the State Assemblies. He introduced another bill to provide for setting up of a fund for the welfare of unorganised labour.

Mr. G.S. Basavaraj (Congress-I) introduced a bill to provide for the establishment of an `Agricultural Produce Price Fixation Board' to fix remunerative support prices of agricultural produce on annual and seasonal basis.
