Maha dasa sub-divisions
Predictions are generally based on Sun Signs in Western
astrology. Indian astrology relies on Moon Signs. The Hindu Astro
Almanac offers both.
Readers can go either by their birth stars under the Indian
system or, if they prefer, their dates of birth under the Western
system.

Queries answered
Who is entitled to have Kanakabhishekam performed in his honour?
A.R.K. Sundaram, Coimbatore-2.
We had answered another question in a related context. To be
eligible for Kanakabhishekam (literally 'to be showered with
gold') the concerned person should have his first-born as a son
(Seemantha Putra) who is alive; that son should also have his
Seemantha Putra alive, and he too be blessed with a living son
born as his first child. This is the requirement for those living
a house-holder's life. For ascetics, and the renounced who are
religious heads, there are other rules. The basic point, of
course, is that the person concerned has lived to be past 80
years. It is sometimes stipulated that the person should have
lived to have seen a thousand full moons. Sahasrachandra Dasanam
is likely for people between 80 and 83 years of age.
