Alembic group chairman passes away

NEW DELHI, APRIL 8. The Chairman of the Alembic group of companies, Ramanbhai B. Amin, passed away on Saturday morning in Baroda. He had suffered a cardiac arrest two days ago. He was 87.

Amin held various positions such as President of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the Federation of Gujarat Mills and Industries, the Central Gujarat Chamber of Commerce, the Baroda Management Association, the Baroda Productivity Council, the Baroda Citizen Council and the Gujarat Flying Club.

In a condolence message sent to the bereaved family, Mr. G. P. Goenka, President of FICCI, said the contributions of Amin were closely interwoven with the industrial development in the country. In the post-independence period, Amin worked relentlessly for creating a strong, vibrant and diversified industrial base in the western region.

Amin is survived by his son, Mr. Chirayu R. Amin, Managing Director of Alembic Chemicals and Vice-President of FICCI, and four daughters.
