K. V. Narain passes away

BANGALORE, APRIL 8. Mr. K. V. Narain, former Tokyo Correspondent of The Hindu and an authority on South-East Asian Affairs, passed away here today in a hospital. He was 83. He is survived by one of his two daughters, Ms. Medha. His Japanese wife, Masuko, passed away some years ago.

Mr. Narain, a graduate of Central College, Bangalore, left for Japan in 1946. Besides write-ups on the post-war economic miracle achieved by Japan, he had also reported on the cultural revolution in China from Tokyo. Mr. Narain took a keen interest in Indo-Japanese economic cooperation.

Mr. Narain, who was suffering from renal failure, had come down here in February this year.
