'Pondy Cabinet expansion shortly'
By Our Staff Reporter
PONDICHERRY, APRIL 3. The general secretary of the Pondicherry
Pradesh Congress(I) Committee and former Education Minister, Mr.
A. Gandhiraj, said here today that the expansion of the Ministry
to induct four ministers to make the ministry a six-member
cabinet would be done in the next few days.
Addressing a press conference Mr. Gandhiraj said that the
expansion would take place without any hitch.
He said that the new government would not let anyone escape the
clutches of law. When his attention was drawn to the earlier plea
of the Congress(I) when it was in the Opposition that steps
should be taken by the Administration against those who
encouraged excess admission of students in privately managed B.Ed
college in the Union Territory, he said whoever was found to have
committed violation of norms of admission would face the
consequence. He said that the complaints from affected students
would also be looked into.
He said that the welfare of all sections of people would be taken
care of by the new government.
Mr. Gandhiraj said that leaders of Congress(I), the AIADMK, the
TMC, the CPI, the CPI(M) and the fraternal parties would meet at
the Congress(I) party office here tomorrow to finalise the date
of agitation against the hike effected by the Centre in prices of
cooking gas, kerosene and also various anti-people measures
announced in the Union budget.
