Mamata meets Ghani Khan

NEW DELHI, APRIL 3. The Trinamul Congress leader, Ms. Mamata Banerjee, tonight met the WBPCC chief, Mr. A.B.A. Ghani Khan Choudhary, in a bid to forge a ``grand alliance'' against the CPI(M).

The 30-minute meeting between Ms. Banerjee, who is also the Railway Minister, and Mr. Choudhary took place hours after the WBPCC president and his predecessor, Mr. Somen Mitra, came out strongly in support of the alliance proposal mooted by the Trinamul leader and also hailed her leadership in the struggle against the ``CPI(M) tyranny''.

Ms. Banerjee said her ``grand alliance'' was the ``only way'' to oust the CPI(M) from power and dismissed the possibility of parting ways with the BJP at the Centre.
