By Our Sports Reporter

BANGALORE, FEB. 5. Thuhashini Selvaratnam added another Asian Ladies Open amateur title to her belt notching up her 10th title win in a span of seven months. The All India Ladies amateur title was hers for the asking as she completely outplayed Shalini Malik of Delhi in the final at the KGA course here today. Thuhashini had comfortable nine hole lead with only seven holes to go and sealed victory on the 11th hole in the second round. The match which is played over 36 holes saw the dimunitive Sri Lankan lass lead by five holes after the first round.

Thuhashini stuck to consistent play and despite playing a gruelling 29 holes had an amazing card of two over at the end of the day. Exhibiting excellent control over both her driving and short play, Thuhashini began with a birdie on the second. Shalini pulled back on the third to make it all square. Thuhashini won the fifth but surrendered the sixth. With victories on the, seventh, ninth, 10th and 11th, Thuhashini began to dominate the match and despite losing the 12th and 16th holes, had a five hole lead after the first round. Shalini made one gain in the second round winning the second hole with a great birdie, but duffed the next hole mishitting a putt. That one shot probably dropped her confidence and she tamely surrendered the match soon after.

In the Silver division , Saroj Saran and Champika Sayal fought tooth and nail before the former won the match on the 18th hole. Saroj needing to just halve the hole to win finally won two up on the 18th.

The bronze division too turned out to be an interesting match. Aruna Sharma took the title winning three up and two holes to go.

The results: Gold Division: (2) Thuhashini Selvaratnam bt (6) Shalini Malik 9/7.

Silver Division: (15) Saroj Saran bt (16) Champika Sayala 2/18th.
