Parents' appeal to students
By Our Special Correspondent
CHENNAI, FEB. 5. Parents of one of the victims in the bus burning
incident at Dharmapuri made an earnest appeal today to the
student community to give up their agitation over the tragedy and
instead concentrate their attention on studies.
Though the death of their daughter was an irreparable loss to
them, they did not agree with the present restive state of the
student community over the issue, said Mr.R.Kesavachandran and
Mrs.A.Kasiammal, parents of Hemalatha, one of the three women
undergraduates of the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, who
were charred to death in the incident.
The fact that the Tamil Nadu Government had taken all steps to
apprehend the anti-social elements responsible for the killing of
Hemalatha was a great source of consolation to them.
``We struggled so much to provide higher education to our
daughter to ensure a bright future for her. All our hopes have
been dashed to the ground'', Mr.Kesavachandran said in a moving
statement issued from his residence at Madambakkam on the
outskirts of Chennai.
